20+ years ago, Gorman wrote a review of a book to which I had contributed a chapter. In his review, he made a snide, and completely unjustified claim that I believed in the privatisation of libraries. I presume this was because at the time I worked for a commercial database producer, and this was on the byline of my chapter. But my chapter made no mention at all of library privatisation at all (it was on a quite different topic), and my personal opinion was, and still is, dead set against it. I wrote to complain about his comments, but got no reply. Conclusion: he is a superficial, closed minded curmudgeon.
